If you are weighing up an LG vs Haier refrigerator, match the star rating and door format before the brand. Below, one LG model sits beside one Haier model at five points in each range, using only what each maker prints on its own India pages, read 30 September 2026.
The short answer. Neither brand wins outright on published evidence. Lean Haier for the longer whole-product warranty (2 years against LG’s 1, on most Haier models we read) or the lower price: Haier’s offer was lower in all five pairs here, as of September 2026. Lean LG for the lower declared energy on both single-door pairs, or written terms on who pays gas and labour on a compressor claim.
LG vs Haier refrigerator, star for star and format for format
One LG and one Haier model at the same star rating and format, five pairs in all. Energy is each maker’s declared kWh a year; prices are storefront offers, 30 September 2026. Differences between the two columns are our arithmetic from those published figures.
| Pair | LG | Haier |
|---|---|---|
| Single door, 5 stars | GLD1956ZABW · 185 L · 115 kWh · inverter · about ₹20,100 | HRD-2105PMBA-P · 190 L · 120 kWh · inverter · about ₹20,000 |
| Single door, 3 stars | GLD2236ZAEL · 210 L · 152 kWh · inverter · about ₹24,400 | HRD-2103BNSA-P · 190 L · 155 kWh · non-inverter · about ₹16,000 |
| Top mount, 2 stars | GLT2526XWDS · 251 L · 233 kWh · inverter · about ₹30,400 | HRF-2902IEBSA-P · 240 L · 230 kWh · inverter · about ₹28,000 |
| Top mount, 2 stars, not size-matched | GLT2826XWOB · 276 L · 236 kWh · inverter · about ₹40,500 | HRF-3782BNSA-P · 328 L · 250 kWh · inverter · about ₹38,500 |
| Side-by-side, 3 stars | GL-B257HDS3 · 650 L · 546 kWh · inverter · about ₹99,800 | 602 L Smart Convertible SBS · 602 L · 528 kWh · “Expert Inverter Technology” · about ₹81,500 |
Type, as each maker states it. Haier names a defrost system: “Direct Cool” on both single doors, “Frost Free” on both double doors, “Auto Defrost” on the side-by-side. LG’s spec tables have no cooling-type line; they read “1Door” and “Top Mount”. LG’s capacity is “Storage Volume Total”, not labelled gross or net.
5 stars: close on everything. Offers under ₹200 apart, capacities 5 L apart, LG 5 kWh a year lower. Three other 190 L 5-star Haier models publish 136 kWh, so check the model number.
3 stars: not matched. The LG is 20 L larger with a Smart Inverter compressor; the Haier lists “Normal”, a non-inverter, and costs about ₹8,400 less. LG’s first single-door listing page has no 183 to 190 L 3-star model.
About 250 L: no energy edge. 233 against 230 kWh a year, on two models. Nine other 240 L 2-star Haier variants publish 270, and this Haier’s 2 stars appear in its title only.
A gap in LG’s range. LG’s first double-door listing page has no top mount between 276 L and 398 L, so the nearest LG top mount there is 52 L smaller than Haier’s 328 L. Not a like-for-like pair. LG also lists 340 L 2-star bottom-freezer double doors, a different door layout.
Side-by-side. The LG is 48 L larger, 18 kWh a year higher and about ₹18,300 dearer. LG’s GL-L257CPZ3 (630 L, 3 stars, 539 kWh a year) is closer to the Haier in size, at a higher offer price than the GL-B257HDS3.
Which fridge has a 5 star rating? And why stars do not cross types
Both brands sell 5-star single doors: LG’s GLD1956ZABW, GL-D231ARWU and GLD2356ZAPZ, and Haier’s HRD-2105PMBA-P among others. No double door or side-by-side we read from either brand is rated above 3 stars.
BEE lists “Frost Free (No-Frost) Refrigerator” and “Direct Cool Refrigerator” as separate schemes, so a star count is not comparable across the two. Haier’s own figures show it:
| Haier model | Type, as Haier states it | Stars | kWh a year |
|---|---|---|---|
| HRD-2105PMBA-P, 190 L | Direct Cool | 5 | 120 |
| HRD-2742CRKA-N, 253 L | Direct Cool | 2 | 176 |
| HRF-2902IEBSA-P, 240 L | Frost Free | 2 | 230 |
Same 2 stars, 54 kWh a year apart. Compare stars within one type, then kWh on the exact model. More in frost free vs direct cool and single door vs double door.
LG vs Haier refrigerator warranty
| LG | Haier | |
|---|---|---|
| Whole product | 1 year | 2 years, most pages we read |
| Compressor | 10 years (1 year plus 9 more) in the policy table, “(Selected Model)” in its text | 10 years, on most Haier pages we read on 30 September 2026 |
| Labour on the compressor term | “does not include labor, only parts” | Not stated on the pages we read |
| Gas and labour on a compressor failure | Customer pays, purchases from 1 August 2024 | Not published on the pages we read |
| Repair-visit charges | Published | No Haier table on this page |
Sources: LG India’s warranty-terms page and Haier’s product pages, read 29 and 30 September 2026. Haier’s warranty-policy page loaded without its content for us: a reading limit, not an absence.
Haier’s 2 years is not universal. Its 185 L 1-star single doors print 1 year product and 10 compressor; its 50 L and 100 L bedroom models 1 year and 2; the HRD-2103BNSA-P prints no warranty line.
LG’s compressor term is for selected models. “The 9 Year warranty (Selected Model) on Compressor will continue even after expiry of 1 year period from the date of purchase.”
LG says who pays. “From 1st Aug 2024 purchase both gas and labor amount to be paid by customer.” Haier’s split is not on the pages we read; ask before you buy.
LG publishes visit charges from 17 February 2026: in-home from ₹600 (direct cool) to ₹1,100 (side-by-side). The cells print no currency symbol; an adjacent LG table prints “₹650 /-“.
Refrigerant and LG vs Haier refrigerator price bands, as of September 2026
Refrigerant. Haier prints R600a on all seven Haier refrigerator product pages we read on 30 September 2026. None of the nine LG refrigerator product pages we read on 30 September 2026 states a refrigerant in its page text.
| Format | LG, offer | Haier, offer (MRP) |
|---|---|---|
| Single door, 185 to 210 L, 3 to 5 stars | ₹20,100 to ₹24,400 (2 models) | ₹16,000 to ₹20,000 (₹23,900 to ₹29,000) |
| Double door, 240 to 251 L, 1 to 2 stars | ₹28,200 to ₹30,400 | ₹28,000 (₹40,500) |
| Side-by-side | ₹93,700 to ₹1.46 lakh (9 models on LG’s category page; 630 to 650 L on the three LG models we read) | ₹65,000 to ₹81,500 (540 to 602 L) |
Haier’s offers sit 31 to 42% below its MRPs, so compare offer with offer, never a Haier MRP with an LG offer.
What we could not verify
- LG refrigerant, on the nine LG product pages we read on 30 September 2026.
- Haier’s warranty policy, and whether its compressor term covers labour or gas.
- LG models beyond the first listing page; LG loads more in the browser.
- BEE star thresholds. We could not read them on the label portal.
- Reliability. This page has no published data for either brand, so we name no winner on it.
